For most people, home isn't just where the heart is; it's a significant investment and asset. Homeowners package insurance protects your home and its contents, and it may even provide safeguards you're unaware of such as coverage for your backyard gazebo, your stolen skis, or unauthorized use of your credit cards. Homeowners insurance also protects you if someone is injured on your property.
If your home is a condominium, you have slightly different needs. Typically, your condo association provides coverage for both the building and areas you share with other tenants such as the roof, stairs, or basement. Your specialized homeowners policy usually provides personal property and liability coverage, along with "from the walls in" coverage of your unit. It is important to know exactly what your condo association's master policy covers so that you can purchase appropriate individual coverage for your unit and its contents.
